There is a group in Berkeley doing Takamura ha Shindo Yoshin Ryu which is a comprehensive budo containing a substantial kenjutsu curriculum. I don't have exact contact info, but it is headed by Eric Winters and you should be able to get in touch by inquiring on www.shinyokai.com or care of info@aikidoofberkeley.com

Thanks Walker, I will email him.
Also, if anything in SF that would be great.
Because for Berkeley I will have to pay toll fees every time I go to the dojo and also gas lol
Shinkendo is a modern kenjutsu/battojutsu system derived from Toyama Ryu and Nakamura Ryu by Obata Sensei, a student of the late Nakamura Sensei. They have branch dojo in both Livermore and San Francisco.
Here's a dojo list with contact info: http://www.shinkendo.com/dojos/california.html

And speaking of Toyama Ryu and Nakamura Ryu, Kenshikan Dojo is also in the Bay Area, and was founded by another student of Nakamura Sensei, Guy H. Power. Power Sensei has turned over the reins of the dojo to his successors, one of whom -- Jay Mijares, Sandan -- I have had the pleasure of studying with briefly.

Thanks for the reply Brain,
I have no experience with Kenjutsu, the only thing I did is Judo.
Which one of these do you recommend. Also I went to http://kenshinkan-battodo.org/ But I could not find anything that says contact us or an address to the Dojo in SF.
Lastly, depending on how firmly or loosely you define "kenjutsu," there is Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido in San Francisco with Thomas C Helm Sensei, 7th Dan, Renshi in the ZNIR. I believe he holds classes on Fridays only at this time. You can contact him by e-mail at kakashi-iai@toryu-mon.com.
HTH.

I have never met Obata Sensei, although I did study for a year with one of his former students. Power Sensei used to be a member here, before his retirement, and his student Jay was also a regular. Since I know them I'd lean in that direction, but visiting each dojo and seeing which one you feel the most connection with is the best way.
Oops; sorry about that. You can send them an e-mail here: postmaster@kenshinkan-battodo.org

Thanks a lot Brain
I emailed both of them, I will try them out and i'll post here some feedback about them.
Appreciate the help!
FYI here is Helm-sensei's website, incase you want info about his other interests.

I have never trained there but the Suio Ryu locations page shows a San Francisco location. Here is the link:

Hi Judokax,
Welcome to E-Budo, and we're glad you're getting the info you've been looking for.
Just a reminder that participants here must include their full, real name (first initial with full surname is also acceptable) either on their profile page when registering, or in the signature of their posts. It's one of the few requirements for membership here.
Thank you, and, again, welcome!
