Default Best way to relax my muscles?

Ok, so I was just stretching like I normally do doing the splits and I think somehow I pushed myself a bit too much!! But anyway I would love to know how to sooth the muscles in my groin as the pain is rather sore. Also, how long will it take to recover before I start doing the splits again?? Thanks

Hi Liu Tree, and welcome to E-Budo. I am moving your thread to our "Budo and the Body" forum, as that is a more appropriate place for your topic.

There isn't much you can do to relieve the soreness, except perhaps to take a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory medication, and, of course, to avoid stressing and further straining the muscles. It's not really about relaxing the muscles, but letting them repair themselves. The tissue is damaged and the nerve endings are responding to the trauma of the injury. It could take several days for the worst of the discomfort to subside.
