    Default Favorite Cheap Watches

Okay, I frequently see posts from people who own Rolexes and Panerais and other fine watches, but rarely see any from people like me of modest means who look for serviceable watches at rock-bottom prices.

    Here are my contributions:

A Seiko 5 automatic, chosen because it resembles a Grand Seiko, and a Casio quartz, chosen because it has an actual rotating bezel for planning dives...unlike many others I looked at in the under $25.00 price range that had bezels that only looked like they could rotate.

What cheap watch or watches do you wear, and why?

I forgot the close-up of the Casio. Please excuse the poor picture; I don't have a macro lens.

I've still got a Seiko very similar to yours in a drawer somewhere. A couple of years back, I had an allergic reaction to something down by the creek, and couldn't wear my watch because of the rash. When it finally healed, I had gotten used to looking at my phone instead of my watch, and never ended up putting it back on.

It's funny, but I couldn't stand to be without my watch until then. Now when I try to wear it, it feels uncomfortable to have something on my wrist.

Seiko SRP313 AKA "new Monster". An ISO certified mechanical diver with insanely good lume for under $200. Nobody else does it so cheap.

I'll have to start adding to my piggy bank a little each week; I like that one, and I'll have to see if there's anything similar still being sold when I have the cash. My $19.95 Casio isn't luminous, but it's only good for relatively shallow diving anyway.

I am very happy with my classic Seiko Sk007 that I acquired about 2 years ago. About the most economical of the Seiko dive watches AFAIK and with Vietnam-era styling. Simple.

Actually these days the 2nd gen monsters like mine (SRP3xx, depending on colour) are going for a little cheaper than the SKX007, despite having the better movement. Go figure. The SKX007s are hugely popular though, very nice style and reliable.

If you like the 60s-era styling, look into the Turtle reissues, SRP775 or SRP777.

I'm looking to add a blue Sumo (SBDC033) to the collection, waiting until they show up on Massdrop again. I passed on them last time and have been kicking myself since.

Bumping the thread, I just got this Casio Duro last week. $45.00! Now THAT is a cheap diver's watch! It has a Miyota 2115 quartz movement, which is largely responsible for the low price...a good, reliable movement sold in large quantities. The lume isn't as good as Seiko's, Omega's, and Rolex's, but it's a real divers watch with a uni-directional bezel, screw-down crown, and static rated for 200 meters. I added the Nato strap for another $12.00...I didn't care for the way the black resin strap that came with it felt.

I love Seiko also . One more thing about popular Japanese watches--they retain value (and even increase in some cases) more than 90% of Swiss watches! Just look up the Seiko 6105 with all original components, and how much it sells for.
Also, put up a Seiko monster for sale @ 20% below street price it and it will disappear in a flash! Same holds true for SKX007 for example.
Except Seiko I like Stuhring ,as Xmas gift we order Stuhrling sport http://jonsguide.org/best-top-stuhrl...tches-reviews/ They are making pretty good budget watcheswith Swiss quartz movements.

My choices so far are Orient Bambino, Orient Ray, Seiko 5. Seiko Sarb033 is my favourite.
