On the 18th of November 2016, the 6th and 7th Sōke of the Hokushin Ittō-Ryū Hyōhō did an Enbu to remember the brave swordsmen who fought fiercely at the battle of the Bonari-pass on the 21st of August 1868 (near Aizuwakamatsu in present day
Fukushima-prefecture).

Many Kenshi of the Hokushin Ittō-Ryū Hyōhō fought there on both sides, either for the Aizu-clan or for the new Imperial army.
Being the 6th and 7th Sōke of this Ryūha, they regarded it as their duty to remember and honor the spirits of all the brave Bushi who fought and died in this battle, which marked the downfall of the Aizu-clan and Tokugawa-shōgunate rule in the Tohoku-region.
