    Default Maai

    Hi Everyone,
-In Kyokushinkai we used three terms for maai (fighting distance in case there is anyone out there less knowledgable than me) So-ou-ma-ai for one step apart
Yudo-ma-ai for one and a half steps and gendo-ma-ai for two steps.
I have read a lot of articles on maai over the years and never encountered these particular terms elsewhere.
Is anyone aware of these specific terms in other martial arts?
Sorry I do not know the kanji but if anyone does I would be interested.
    Thank you in advance,
    Len McCoy

Our Goju Ryu tribe do not use those terms.

Well, "maai" is 間合 or 間合い, but I don't know about the kanji for the various intervals you mention. I've not encountered those names in karate, kenjutsu, or jojutsu.
