Default Type of cut in Iaijutsu

    Hello Guys,

In the iaijutsu there is only the possibility of two types of draws with the sword, Nukitsuke (horizontal cut), Kesa Giri and Gyaku Kesa Giri (cuts in diagonal), and vertical cut, where the katana passes parallel to the practitioner's body. The latter do you know the name?

    Thanks.

"Nukitsuke" does not mean horizontal cut; it just means simultaneous draw-and-cut. Although the most common nukitsuke is horizontal, it isn't always so.
A horizontal cut may be called yoko giri or ichimonji giri. A vertical cut may be called shomen giri or kirioroshi. (Different schools may have different names for the same cut, or use the same name for different cuts. The best answer to your question will thus come from your sensei.)

A rising cut does not necessarily follow the kesa line. Simply known as kiriage. That goes for a cut from high to diagonal as well. Only specific ryu follow the kesa line.
