Default Reverend Sasamori Takemi, 17th Soke OHIR

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sasamori Takemi Sensei, the 17th Headmaster of Ono-ha itto-ryu. He passed in the early evening of August 15th after succumbing to a medical condition. Sasamori Soke was one of the most skilled and knowledgeable koryu instructors alive, and truly an inspiration to those who who were fortunate enough to know him of how human beings are supposed to develop and conduct themselves. He taught Itto-ryu as both a bujutsu and a budo.

The official announcement in English can be found at the Ono-ha itto-ryu USA FB page here:

"Put strength into your practice, and avoid conceit. It is easy enough to understand a strategy and guard against it after the matter has already been settled, but the reason an opponent becomes defeated is because they didn't learn of it ahead of time. This is the nature of secret matters. That which is kept hidden is what we call the Flower."

A memorial tribute interview about Sasamori Takemi Soke was just published in the Japanese language "Hiden Budo & Bujutsu" magazine, January 2018 edition. The contributor also created an English translation and posted it to the Hiden/BAB English website:

The interviews were from the perspective of non-Japanese students, and came out interesting in that many of us had very similar comments. There are also some unique photographs in the article, including an old photograph of Soke's Reigakudo Dojo.
