Default Fifty-three Stations on the Tokaido in Pittsburgh

In case anyone lives near Pittsburgh the Carnegie Museum of Art is displaying a complete set of Hiroshige's Fifty-three Stations on the Tokaido through June. I haven't gotten there yet but hope to soon.

Well I got to see them. Nice display. They have about half a dozen duplicates that were colored differently. Two wood blocks from another print series. A bound book by Hiroshinge and a video demo of wood block printing. One of the things i try to do when I see any art work is look at the weapons, how they are held, how large are they etc. There are a few (very few) with swords but generally not fertile ground for that study. then again we are talking 1850s so what would you expect. I strongly recommend exhibit if you are interested in Japanese Culture.
