    Default Kyushu Koryu Arts

Hi, my name is Chris, I am interested in Kyushu koryu.
I used to do judo and boxing, then I got into Kaze Arashi ryu. Though I left that school (story for another day)
I remained interested in koryu. I married a lass from Saga ken, and I wanted to find out what was in the area.
I'm interested in discussing what schools are around, anecdotes, histories, experiences etc.

I've been looking at Fukuoka and so far I've found

    Ise Jitoku Ryu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4T6z8tK0kY
    Jigo Tenhin Ryu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yA32io5HYic
    Shinto Muso Ryu
    Buzen Fukumitsu ha Kojutsu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5022ilcYxdk
    Takeda Ryu
    Kage Ryu
    Sosuishi ryu

So, let me know if you now of anymore, and if you know anything about any of these, i'd love to hear about it.

    Kind regards

    Chris

Bradford Pomeroy in Saga does Suio-ryu. You wont find legit Kageryu. The Hombu moved when I left Saga. The main practitioner in Japan lives in Osaka.

Hi Colin, thanks for your reply, and your info and sorry for my late response, I have just returned from Saga Ken. Family bits.

I have also spoken to a company member of the Yumekaido ninja demonstration troupe, I was seeking info on Nanban ryu, (a gunnery/explosives school I gathered) and they said that they had now set up a practice group of Taisha Ryu because the found out that I was used in the prefecture in the past.

Yes I did see them once and saw they were delving into Taisha Ryu. I think the connection is with Yatsushiro (Kumamoto).

    Thanks for the link Martin!

I was not familiar with Taisha ryu, and the article was very interesting and informative.
