Default Newbies, how to use this forum!

Whether you are new to karate or new to e-budo, it seems that certain themes are interesting to all.

Some of these themes have been gone over so many times it is at the least boring to see them again and at the most, downright irritating.

Then there are themes used by trolls who pontificate or question and then who disappear back under their bridge.

So take a moment and look at the opening Karate forum screen. You will see a line saying:

Showing threads 1 to x of x, sorted by (choose) in (choose) order, from (another choice).

These choices allow you to see all the archived topics going back to the start of the forum! Please use this feature to browse the topics and get a feel for what has been discussed already. That way we can move ahead and entertain new thoughts without repeating the past.

Also, on the same opening page, you will see a Search this forum option. You can and should use this option to research the topic before you post your topic or question because if it is a 'usual' topic, thousands of words have been written already.

Time bomb topics

These include discussions about chi / ki, the relative usefulness of kata vrs sparring as a training tool...these are topics that generate passion and often degenerate into ad hominem squabble. Research them in the archives before resarting either of these topics.
