Well, I've had some family vacations I would classify as time in hell.

Feel free. (hey Ed, move over.)

Mr Kohler,

I have no wish to appear rude, to breach forum rules, to cause offence or to be banned but I would like to respectuly ask a question please.

If Mr Grayston does not want to provide evidence to back up his claims on his website, why can we not ask questions about it here. All we want is the truth.

I had hoped that the thread that was locked may, given time, have yielded some evidence from somebody one way or the other.

Again, I intend no disrespect, I just want to understand why the thread was locked and why this one was moved to the mudpit.

Thank you for your time

I don't know too much about the thread in question; I was on vacation. I will review and see what happened.

This thread was moved to the mud pit because it seems it has nothing to do with "Karate" and it turned unpleasant.

Might I (respectfully) add some thoughts to Mr. Svinth's commentary on the thread currently under dispute?

Quote:
If you want to research a style's history, start by going to the library and reading the old newspapers. From there, you should be able to document the outlines.
Or, you can ask for people to come out of the woodworks and see if there is anybody who has training history with the martial artist at hand, or their instructors, students, or associates. Which was being done.
Plus, not all martial art styles have their history so neatly documented in the local newspapers to be researched at will. And if there is such a wide time period under scrutiny, that task would take a great deal of time to research. Asking questions in an internet forum full of martial arts practitioners of varied arts, locations, and training experiences would be a great way to conduct said research, would it not?

Quote:
After that, you find the people who participated in the organization, and start doing interviews.
They had commentary from one person (wadowoman) who was in the organization, and were asking about for many others. How else, but on a forum, are they to go about finding others who shared in this experience?

Quote:
And then you just continue spiralling out from there.
The thread was reaching that point when it was locked down.

It seems to me that besides a bit of off-topicness (which I have seen in almost every thread on any forum I've visited), they were doing what Mr. Svinth told them to do, and then were cut off from being able to finish that task. The action taken also keeps Mr. Grayston, the subject in question, from being able to answer to those queries put forth to him.

As a mission to find truth and answers, this one, in my opinion, has been prematurely cut short.

a humble spectator,

As I mentioned before, I was on vacation and just returned Monday. I do have a life other than being on the internet all day. I am still trying to catch up with work and going through "Fiber Optic support" classes, so you all will need some patience. Right now I'm on break, in between classes, so my time on the internet will be sparse for the next two weeks.

Just an FYI...

E-Budo is a private board. E-Budo (or John Lindsey, the owner) does not profit any money for having this website. So we are not "customer" focused like other forums that rely on payments from commercials or in some cases changing it's members to "premium members" after paying for it. John Lindsey and I are the only ones who have put any money into this website. In my case it was because John was busy in Iraq and I was the only one that could take care of the problem at that time. John Lindsey did pay me back for my troubles.

Right now there are only 5 groups that have access to this website (some have more access than others):

Non members
Members
Banned members
E-Budo Hell members
Moderators/Admins

And it is all free.
