Hi
I am new to Shorinji Kempo infact today was my first class. I am Studying it at Sakaide Senshu Doin in Kagawa ken near the Honbu in Todatsu. I look forward to talking about Shorinji Kenpo with you all on here! I have been living here for more than a year but have not had a chance to join until now. I have done other types of Budo before but I like the philosophy behind Shorinji Kenpo and that is what made it attractive to me. Thanks for your time. Aaron |

Wecome Aaron, we look forward to hearing your stories. We have some people on here who have practised for decades, and some who live in Japan, but we are a bit light on the "freshers". Your experience of training in Japan will be of great interest to those who have discovered Shorinji Kempo in their relative countries around the world.

Aaron, welcome to Shorinji Kempo and ebudo, I hope you enjoy both experiences. It would be great to train in Japan for an extended period of time, and being so close to Hombu could only be a good thing. If you don’t mind me asking, what is it that you are doing in Tadotsu; it’s a bit out of the way? Did you go there because of Shorinji Kempo, or was it just coincidence that you ended up there?

Hi
Thanks for the warm welcomes. I live in Sakaide which is the City with the Seto Ohashi Bridge which is about 20 minutes car drive or 10 to 15 minutes by train from Tadotsu. I am here because it is where my wife is from. I was able to get a Job with the Board of Education here through the JET Programme. I will probably be living in Japan for good. I am originally from Canada and got married 3 years ago. When I fist came to visit this area I did not know anything about Shorinji Kenpo. My wife told me about it and we drove by the Honbu when I first visited here. Then last year when I finally moved here at a work meeting some people from the Honbu came and put on a demonstration and I liked what I saw and what the people said. I did some research into it and this year and decided I would join. Take care Aaron |

Gassho.
Aaron-san, I'll be visiting Hombu in November or December, so I'll look you up for the obligatory drink-until-you-drop ritual. There is a reason why Shorinji Kempo techniques include chidori ashi, you know! Kesshu. |
