Tsukamaki

Hi guys,

Anyone know where i can send a new tsuka blank to get tsukamaki done in Japan? I have all the old fittings, and all i need is to send the blank to a craftsmen and get it finished.

I don't know where in Japan you can send it (I'm sure others will soon provide that info), but here's an address in the USA where you can send it. The proprietor, Tutsuhiko Konno Sensei, 7th Dan Renshi, Muso Shinden Ryu, is an NBTHK recognized sword polisher/restorer/dealer.

As a tangent totally unrelated to the craftsman mentioned, I'm not aware that the NBTHK "recognizes" anyone. One can be a member of the NBTHK by paying your dues (and I'm a member myself), but I don't believe they have "recommended", "approved" or "authorized" people, dealers, or anything like that.

No criticism is intended, just an observation about the NBTHK.

And fwiw the NBTHK-AB put on a great Kantei session for NBTHK members at the Florida Token Kai. Four great swords to study and try to identify. And I'm proud to say I totally tanked at the kantei... Got period right, school mostly on a few, but the rest... Phooey. So much to learn...
