I play the guitar, bass and piano; I also write from time to time.
Japanese swords are indestructible and can cut through anything.
I actually tried a forza class once, just to see what it was. In my opinion, anyone practising a Japanese sword art is better off doing suburi and anyone not practising one is better off doing...
This is the practise in TSKSR, Sugino dojo as well.
I'm not really too fond of Bisping, so I was pleased with the result. Good event overall. Belcher got robbed, though!

The ones sold by koryubokken.com are 245 cm long, and weigh in at around 1800 grams. Weight will depend on wood used, though.
I tried dyeing a white kendo-gi dark blue once. The fabric took the colour well. However, the thread holding it together didn't, resulting in a myriad of white lines across the gi.
Has anyone done business with http://www.koryubokken.com/ ? I'm looking to get some TSKSR-naginata, and so far this is the only webshop I've seen that sells them.
Cool clip, thanks for sharing.

The only group tactics clip I can remember seeing.
So, how long before we start seeing videos of twirlers/backyard samurai/self-titled soke wearing these pop up on YouTube?

If you have access to Otake sensei's Katori Shinto Ryu - Warrior Tradition there's a short chapter on weak points in japanese armour. He lists the kusazuri (the "skirt" protecting the thighs) as one...
That's one hefty tsuba.
I think that is the problem: everyone has their own ideal what a black belt should be, and judge other schools/styles against that ideal. But that doesn't really work, as a black belt isn't a...
McDojos aside, comparing "black belts" between arts isn't really feasible. I think it was Kim Taylor that wrote an interesting piece on how the only two ranks that matter are: the one that allows you...
Consider this: Seeing as how you got the same response from both your sensei and your sempai, is it possible that they have some insight that you don't? As beginners we tend to analyze and judge a...
It's not my place to comment on this (so I won't :)), but it could be worth noting that Iizasa soke attended Sugino dojo's 80-year anniversary last november. Some pictures from that event can be seen...
Yup, it's from "Never Back Down". Looks like one of the extras filmed it with a phone or something, as the camera angle is very different from those used in the movie. The fighting is good, the movie...
Interesting armor. I liked the use of Nike soccer shinpads on the one guy's forearms:D
The pictures are beautiful, thank you for sharing.
I second that! Tried with Firefox, Safari and Opera:cry:
:p
Not karate, but I really like Ong-bak and Tom yum goong. Tony Jaa is amazing!
