Hi Cady.
Thanks for posting a very interesting video.
My knowledge of Chinese systems is very limited, but what was shown transfers into the principle movement of the Karate style that I...
Also Terry O'Neil & Bob Poynton recently promoted to 8th Dan.
Andy Sherry promoted to 9th Dan a couple of weeks ago.
Simon:
George Grimes Kyoshi has recently been promoted to 8th Dan by the EKF.
IMO a more than justified award to one of the first generation Wadoka in the UK.
Chucky.
One person omitted from the list is the legendary Ray Fuller of Thames Karate International, although I have found out that he sadly passed away last May.
It's a shame we missed him on the list, not...
It has come to my knowledge that the legendary Tatsuo Suzuki has passed away.
Truly a sad day for all practitioners of Wado and the world of Karate.
Simon-
Peter Consterdine promoted to 9th Dan.
Simon:
I'll ask Nick tomorrow as I'm at his Dojo.
What a small world!
Nick's website
Then you should have said anyone who started before 1984:laugh:
Nick Smith?
How do you know of Smithy?
Just curious as he is my longest friend in Karate. (Nearly 30 years).
I'm afraid he started in March 1974, so won't make the list.
One more came to mind today- Eddie Daniels of Shukokai.
The following is from his SKF website:
'Shihan Eddie Daniels started training Karate in 1965 and was a member of the All-styles British...
I have heard that Mr Ticky Donovan has been promoted to 9th Dan by the EKF.
Also Peter Spanton 8th Dan of the Higashi Karate Kai (My former Sensei) and David 'Ticky' Donovan, who needs no introduction.
Hi Gazza
Yes mate I'm still kickin' n punching as ever!
The German bash was a good time wasn't it mate, I came away with shedfuls from Mr Hakoishi, probably the best I've trained with.
Yep,...
Hi Will.
Thankyou for your comprehensive listing of the techniques, especially the Tantodori which I am presently endeavouring to research as best I can.
I was wondering if you have the names...
Thankyou AJ.
It was a great loss to the Wado world when Ishikawa Shihan passed away.
My one regret is that I never got the chance to train with him.
Best wishes
Chucky
Hi Z.
We practise this type of Kumite at my Dojo. Admittedly it's not something we do on a regular basis. A lot of the pairwork we practise includes locks/throws so it's really a matter of...
Hi Tim.
You're right, I think Wado would have happened one way or another.
One thing that I think would be different, in quite a major sense, would be the Kata we practise. (That's assuming we are...
Peter, Jo and Gary.
Thankyou for all your information about instructor insurance, and for passing it on so quickly. Thankyou.
However, the postie turned up today with the certificate!
Hurrah,...
Jun (oi) zuki works a treat, nasty chappie approaches, game on - straight in with Junzuki before he can get any closer, his nose pops, Chucky walks off unharmed.
Thankyou
Too late- I've opened my gob! :)
I was getting insurance from the AWA, another fine organisation I believe!
However KE was rather cheaper, and as I only have a few students it was less taxing on...
I applied for my instructor's insurance from KE over 2 months ago.
So in effect I am now teaching uninsured!
I finally managed to speak to them on the phone and they asured me it would be sent...
That's what we want Ken.
Obviously we will need a central location, I know you're in Surrey, as is Gary.
I'm in deepest Devon. But we have roads down here now, so we can travel up.
Who is...
Not deep at all.
I feel the Atemi side is rather neglected. Some would say as Wado is a 'soft' art there is no Atemi, others would say as Otsuka was a bone setter he had a good knowledge of the...
Hi Gary.
I will post again tomorrow, as it's time to eat now!
And we can discuss a get together on this forum.
Best wishes
Graham Chuck
PS Had a good chat with Wilkinson Shihan today, good...
Hello again.
We all know that true unity is really just a dream, I suppose.
The three major factions have developed things their own way, and each has it's own merit. Neither is 'right or...
