I'd love an RSS feed from the aikido forum, I'm trying to gather a variety of feeds together for a general aikido news section for my forum.

So what you're saying is that it's back to the time old advice of ask your sensei. Why don't you ask him how to do atemi? If one of my students asks me I try to answer (depends on what the lesson...
We're a ki-style, my teacher was here a week ago and spent two hours last Monday teaching us how to punch.
When roughly would you say did atemi leave the art exactly?

Sounds to me like your trying to give me a brain disease. Ever see the original Scanners film? Where the guys head explodes.....
More seriously I can think of 5 people without any difficulty up...
Lol, glad you mentioned this thread last night Steve :) I took a look into the Iaido available here in Aberdeen about a year and a half ago, Kendo was the closest I could come to it. Andy from our...
As an interesting (I hope so anyway) aside and nothing particularly relevant to the history of Daito Ryu, I've noticed that my study of kendo has been messing with my aikido ma-ai. 10 yrs of aikido...
I'm afraid I don't know Tom Read. The only aiki-bo I know of was usually taught by the late Hikitsuchi Sensei and now his students.
That is of course if by aiki-bo you mean something derived from...

Which I assume is the club in question. Seems to me like they have guys who do NGA and Shotokan and teach both. Fair enough really, so long as...

Dear Hooker Sensei,
I'm afraid I live in Aberdeen in Scotland (far too far away from Geoff Sensei unfortunately) but I have no doubts whatsoever that Geoff would welcome you...
Dear Mr Goldsbury,
Please accept my apologies I had no intention of telling you how to do your job.
Mike
You obviously didn't read my earlier post properly, although to be fair to you I never stated when he got his 2nd Dan (because I'm unaware of the exact date). I believed that the context was well...
Not sure where your 2 years idea came from. 2nd Dan sometime in the mid 1980s, 7th Dan in 2004. More like 20 years than 2.
Tomio Otani Sensei died before he could award any further grades to Geoff...
Dear Peter Goldsbury,
I don't think there is anything here that could properly be called libellous, what we have here is mostly a collection of impolite and ill judged questions/comments and the...
Sorru about that, easy to do when someone (not you) has said less than pleasant things about your teacher :)
I hope I didn't cause too much irritation.
Regards,
Mike
I don't think that we really disagree on this issue Dave, I agree with you re: the 'Just because they're Japanese' issue, but in this case I think that Maruyama Sensei's credentials are quite clear....
I agree with this sentiment and would simply add that in the past when I respectfully asked what his rank was Geoff usually replied "2nd Dan", at first I didn't believe him :)
It may also be...
Dear Gary,
Kolesnikov was only one of Flather Sensei's teachers, another was Tomio Otani who studied with Abbe Sensei, it was Tomio Otani who encouraged Geoff Flather Sensei to begin teaching on...
