Great read!!!
Yes, yes, the Awase sets at per Saito Sensei's first book. You have been most helpful. If you at all interested in the scale of what I'm undertaking, please PM me. You will have a better idea of...
No, I mean the awase. I have GOOD reason to believe that there are a few henka in the awase sets too.
Mr. Goldsbury,
Unfortunately, I don't currently have access to Ethan's books.
I understand that. I also understand that some of the awase have variations, or henka. Do you have any information regarding what the Awase and Henka are, and how they are performed? I have a copy...
Hey there. Does anyone here care to share some details about Saito Sensei's Ken Awase?
I don't think I ever said Karate by the way. I don't know if that makes a difference or not...
Yeah, I have no intention of empowering the shelter residents with more tools than the employees (imagine that). But like I said, that is what they asked for.
Hey there all. I'm looking for some advice from anyone with experience on the matter. I was approached by a representative from a local charitable shelter to teach self defense to the employee...

Just thought I would post this link for example's sake.
Is that available online? I would like to read that.
A commentary on my study.
Aikido and Tantodori
So sorry - 1000 pardons, please!
The next series is under way as I type this.
In the meantime take care.
Cool food for thought! I'll give you a blow-by-blow reply:
1. Hands up or down, I do both, depending on the specific waza. Hands down I like for many reasons: it's non-threatening, which may...
Hey there. Let's see. My posture in the first photo reflects a few things:
1) my preference to start from a relaxed hands down kamae when possible
2) leaning not actually backward but to the...
Any and all comments and criticism warmly welcomed.

Oh this is truly a most brilliant topic. Much regards. That being said, let's restate EVERYTHING that Mr.Goldsbury said. That being done, here's "mah two cents." As Ellis has said in his blogs...
Check your email kind sir. I've had one response regarding technique so far. I'm going to work on that versus the methods I'm favoring and see what flies.
Pretty much what I'm thinking also...I submitted an at length query in the form of a blog submission on AJ. If it goes up then you'll see what I'm trying to find out. It was rather long to post as...
I looked and I'm pretty sure I didn't see a forum that has addressed this already, so here I go:
Does the tanto dori that we have in Aikido represent an application of waza against a particular...
Dan,
Well stated!!!
Hey there. I have always understood the meaning of the term "sutemi ukemi" to mean that in all the choices uke has to make a martially sound course of action, uke takes the fall. The "sacrifice" is...
My bad. I'm not sure if anyone in Florida is Wagokan. There might be, but I'm not sure. Jorge in Utah is Wagokan, that much I know. Pretty much everyone I know stayed with Ishikawa when he formed...
Last word I have is that Ishikawa-San is in Osaka. He never "ran" Wagokan, he was a representative. Yamano Sensei is still the head of Wagokan.
Sorry for not jumping in sooner. Ishikawa-san is my Sensei and when I met him he was part of the Wagokan. He is currently heading Misasagi-kai. Both organizations are "legit." Cheers.
