De rien...
Well, on the top left of the index page it says "shakujo for bujutsu", and as far as I know, Shorinji Kempo is practically the only martial art that uses shakujo as a weapon today. Also, their link...
Maybe this site will help you:

The temple is called Tanashi-san Sojiji (田無山総持寺) and it's in Tokyo. Also, the two statues at the sanmon are indeed Bishamonten and Komokuten.

Looks alot like Komokuten (広目天) with the scroll missing in his hand. Although, the face looks more like Zochoten (增長天). The statue doesn't appear to be THAT old though...
Sorry, for those who can't read Japanese, click on this link https://secure.nicovideo.jp/secure/register , enter your e-mail address and click on the button below. You will have to fill in the next...
Here are some more interesting videos not found on youtube(I think):
Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-ryu:

Part 2-...
You're totally right. I meant the move where he turns his eyes and back to him... Anyway, this is only fiction, so there is not much value discussing or arguing about why he stuck his blade in a pile...
I am guessing that he knew he was going to use the "oni no tsume" technique which is slicing the abdomen open, but used the old wives tale and dulled the blade so that he would not kill the guy owing...
If you really want to learn Ono-ha Itto-ryu, then you should either study directly under Sasamori Takemi himself or someone that has studied directly under him IN Japan (not through seminars) for a...
Here is the NHK drama version http://www.yesasia.com/global/semi-shigure-nhk-dvd-japan-version/1003028638-0-0-0-en/info.html
And the movie version...
I think you're talking about Semishigure. This story was written by the novelist Fujisawa Shuhei, same guy who wrote Tasogare Seibei(The Twilight Samurai), Kakushi Ken Oni No Tsume(The Hidden Blade),...
Mr. Watkin, I don't doubt anything that you have said. I have seen it, heard about it, read about it myself, and its not only Jodo Shinshu. Soto-shu is another huge money maker, in fact they(sects)...
Sorry, I have to correct my mistake here. I meant split into two branches because the sect was 'becoming too powerful' and from there it helped put a balance so that Jodo Shinshu would equally...
To come back to the subject of cremation in Japanese buddhist/shinto traditions, again, to make a long confusing analogy very short. Originally in the old indigenous religions of Japan starting from...
I wasn't implying that you were suggesting that he was a full-fledged follower of Jodo Shinshu ;).
Yes you are right it was also due to the orders of Ieyasu that the main temple of Jodo...
Also, I am pretty sure Tokugawa Ieyasu's funeral was conducted by a Tendai monk named Tenkai and also other of Ieyasu's thrustworthy monks overlooking the ceremony, one being a Rinzai monk(can't...
Cremation in Japan began with the introduction of buddhism and then became popularized in the 6th or 7th century if I remember correctly. Before buddhism it was all burials.
There are no cremation...
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think "kira-zukuri" is a typo. Maybe they meant "hira-zukuri" or "kiriha-zukuri". I have also seen "unokubi-zukuri" and "kanmuri-otoshi-zukuri" kikuchi yari.

Here is your guy.
As for the "Time Warp" video thingy...
I couldn't have said it better than Mr. Beaubien.
Again with the "lets get on the mat!" stuff and machismo prove this, prove that BS. This is not about me or what I do, this is about James Williams and his misrepresentation of Japanese traditions...
I will advise some people here to be more cautious in their words as you may be subject to a duel proposal in Sensoji's courtyard at dawn:p
For the moderating I will only say that there is a...
Yes, I am sorry about that. I only realized the next day that I did not put in more detail about the meanings of 'Sendatsu' etc... Pretty rough week and there was alot of heavy 'Nomunication'(that's...
