I'm not sure... but I think there may be a jodo group that trains or trained at Twin Cities Aikido Center. You may want to contact Lynn Vongries to see if they are there.

Haven't been there in a couple of years...but the Japanese Palace in Ft. Worth always had great stuff. Get to know the chef... and it's even better!
We have Matayoshi Okinawan Kobudo at my Aikido school in Burnsville. Feel free to come by and visit.
Their website is: www.aaakaratemn.com
You probably have a better chance than someone who was originally Aikikai and now is in K. Tohei's line. :)
As far as I know, the only legitimate Yoshin ryu in the US is Takamura ha Shindo Yoshin ryu taught by Toby Threadgill (and his students). Everything else isn't koryu.
A good BJJ instructor is a good thing to have. I have studied BJJ for around 8 years with a hiatus here and there. I am back into it now and another guy and I are teaching classes at my school 2...
Jeez Jock,
Please don't defame us Aikido chaps that do Batto and Kenjutsu by putting it in that light. A white gi and black hakama doesn't necessarily make it Aiki. And since I saw no evidence of...
Christ! Everything on the site is pirated from other sources except the photo gallery. At least, I think those are originals....
Moppy,
If you want to shoot me a private e-mail I would be glad to get you in touch with an instructor in your area. I know the folks around WI pretty well, since I live there.
If you are near...
Our dojo cutter is a last legend. It has worked great and gives good feedback to a new person performing tameshigiri. I bought it because of the replacement guarantee, but, I am leery now that they...
Just had to pop in. I trained with Cline Sensei back when I was in college in Moorhead over a decade ago. He was very good back then, I would have to think he's better now.
For you folks in Ryu...
I spend a lot of time in seiza in Aikido.
One of the many reasons I like to study Batto. Standing is so much easier with a blade. :)
I trained in BJJ for 7 years and have been in Aikido for 17.
They complimented well. I moved up fairly quickly because BJJ felt like Aikido on the ground to me.

I don't do term...
If you want the same mop, at a cheaper price:
Roadrunner from Cleanfix
Our style is big on randori:
Gokyu: 2 person
Yonkyu: 2 person + 1 person added in during the randori
Sankyu: 2 person + 1 person added in during the randori
Nikyu: 3 person + 1 person added in...
I've heard that the mentality is to develop quick striking in a kind of "knick them, knick them, then stick them mentality". I'm not sure if that's what they are shooting for in that video.
I agree on how tachiwaza can be mimicked effectively open hand.
Plus, if you are ever attacked and a stick, 2X4, or baseball bat is nearby. You probably could do a fair amount of damage if needed.
Hmmm the Sengoku Classic....the best sword throwing around ;)
Drawing this comparison is like calling all Aikidoka pedophiles because of Bruce Klickstein's actions in the past.
I use a versaflex almost daily. The nice thing is that I can do PNF stretching by applying resistance to the machine in an isometric fashion. I have found that my hips and SIs are much happier with...
thanks for the insights, I appreciate it. The last group I let hold classes at my schools turned out to be quite the partial artists.
I'm being careful this time around.
I have a gentleman that studies under Neil Stolsmark (whom I had never heard of) that wants to teach kobudo at my school. Are they legit?
Authenic Ancient Arts
And here is the gentleman's...
Jeez Paul,
Did you nick yourself at the Tai Kai? A little irritable this evening, aren't ya :)
For fun, I picked up a Last Legend Ameryu folded blade. The worst part is, I love it. It gives great feedback on tameshigiri and I use it almost exclusively for seitei kata now too.
My only...
I received info from an ex member of the Chikara dojo. He told me that Kilgore actually put a shinken thru his leg while performing no-to.
Nice. I guess karma does work.
