Oh,people will still trash talk anyways.I just think the 6 month mandatory rule would atleast give everyone better insight, from which to create more vivid and wild imaginary theories. lol
I think a rule should exist that prohibits anyone from bad mouthing any art unless they first spend 6 months of training with a qualified instructor of that particular art.
Jeff,
What you just said makes a lot of sense.I actually have a couple of guys in our judo class that have trained in BJJ, jujutsu and aikido, although their jujutsu would probably be considered...
If classical jujitsu made sense in a BJJ context or even in a Judo context, then there would be no need for anyone to train in BJJ or judo at all.Just because classical jujustsu uses the principles of...
Hey,I am seriously considering hiring Kit as my defense attorney for any of my future kata debates.
Isn't this where your sport Muaythai,Kickboxing,Boxing types should kick in.
*goes back into hiding and patiently waits for the backlash*
Laughing real hard at myself for calling brazil a island. lololol
Mike,
My view or Opinion(because I don't have concrete evidence to support this)is that Carlos and Helio learned more about Japanese kodokan judo after the Maeda era ended from other Japanese judo...
Mike,
I realize that Maeda was kodokan judo through and through but what about his world travel fight experiences(before landing in brazil) with wrestlers, boxers, and strongmen?
It must have...
Duncan,
I guess I am guilty of sometimes labeling all TMA and putting them into a little box, when I know for a fact that this is not true.Just like most TMA assume that all MMA enthusiast just...
I don't think anyone has stated that their method is superior, what I do hear is people (mostly TMArtist)thinking that sparring or the techniques derived from them are mostly from a narrow spectrum...
I beg to differ in that some forms of study have proven to be much more effective than others under a structured fight setting, especially those that follow a specific sparring guideline.Class...
How can anybody want get into a heated verbal disscussion after a post like that?great post Neil, even thou I rolled my eyes just a bit after the tai-chi/self defense connection.I understand it and...
I doubt very seriously that he believes those techniques don't work.He is probably suggesting that some of the traditional training methods for achieving proficiency and skill in utilizing those...
Mike,
Agree, the butterfly guard would logically seem to have more set-ups and different gi grips and gi wraps available for the sport bjj GI guy, along with also being able to do most any...
Are we talking about traditional hard line (change for a reason)do understand deviants or are we talking about fly by night mix & mash without reason(don't understand the concept to begin with)...
Ron,
That was definitely a great fight, both fighters gave it their all.The thing I noticed about some of karo throws is that he would end up in a inferior position after a fantastic throw. This is...
Jimmy Pedro(judo) v.s Marcelo Garcia(BJJ)
Jimmy throws him for ippon in a judo match but Marcelo eventualy would get his back and the tap in a bjj match.
"just speculation ofcourse"

I think it's a toss up between the UFC & Pride fighters and the practicioners that are preocupied with learning every little detail & terminology, about folding a hakama correctly while seated in...
Top Mount = Tate-shiho-gatame
Jeff,
I train at Miami dade college (south campus) under Jack williams in judo.In BJJ I have trained at various places in the past.I have trained BJJ under Efrain ruiz and Mike cardoso who...
Hi Jeff,
I was actualy in your neck of the woods a couple of weeks back for the MMA show in tampa,RFC I think it's called. You and me both seem to run into the same scenarios because we both are...
It seems to me that one has to pass the legs and secure the upper torso position in order to have a pin in both judo or BJJ.Uncrossing your ankles from around someone's body while playing from your...
Can anyone speculate as to why this match was contested under grappling rules instead of vale tudo rules?
