Welcome to E-Budo.

E-Budo is a private discussion forum owned and managed by a group of budo enthusiasts. The owners, in alphabetical order, are Cady Goldfield, Ken Goldstein (Ken-Hawaii), Peter Goldsbury, Anders Pettersson, and Paul Smith (pgsmith). Cady Goldfield, Ken Goldstein and Paul Smith act as senior moderators; Peter Goldsbury and Anders Pettersson act as site administrators.

To contact the site administrators, click on Contact Us at the bottom of the E-Budo top page and send a message, or send an e-mail to the following address: webmaster@e-budo.com.

In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these general rules for the forums.

If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact the site administrators or moderators. Clicking on Visit the Forums on the E-Budo top page and then on View Site Leaders towards the bottom of the Forums page will show a list of moderators with their user names and the forums they moderate.

1. It is a condition of membership that your name is included in your profile. This cannot be changed.Your name can be your real, full name (much preferred), or your user name, which must be an acceptable nom de plume. The importance here is acceptability, and the final decision lies with the forum administrators.

2. Information and comments posted cannot be deleted. Members who no longer wish to participate in E-Budo can remove their personal information from their profile, but all the posts they have made will remain.

3. While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting or inflammatory posts, personal attacks or attacks on a person's good name. The owners’ decision is absolutely final in these matters. Treat your fellow E-Budo members with respect and do not make comments about race, national origin, gender, sexual preference, political views, and religious preference (or lack thereof). Do not attack or insult a person in an effort to elicit a negative response. You have a right to disagree, but please do so in a respectful manner.

4. We will not tolerate any debate in the forums about how individual moderators actually moderate their forums. Any such debate will be deleted. Complaints should be made via private message (PM), either to the moderator of the forum, to the senior moderators, or to the site administrators.

5. Unless you are posting in the dedicated ‘Budo Fun’ sub-forum in the Members’ Lounge, please make sure that the title of your post is descriptive, and not simply, “What about this?” or “Check this out”. Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) posts, or short non-sense posts.

6. Multiple or repeated posting in different forums is not allowed. If you are not sure where to post, put the post in the Members’ Lounge and a moderator will move it if needed.

7. Each member is allowed one log-in account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.

8. Do not use profane language. This includes stealth cursing [examples: F#$K or Sv(k my c0(k]. Saying @#$%# is ok. Do not post childish comments about any of the following: important political figures or candidates and their families. This includes the misuse of their names.

9. The uploading of material from YouTube, Facebook and other sites is allowed on the basis of ‘fair use’. Any questions or complaints about the content of such material should be addressed to the site administrators. On such issues the owners’ decision will be final.

10. While the uploading of photographs or artwork is acceptable, moderators will remove any picture or artwork considered to be offensive.

11. There are dedicated forums where members may advertise budo-related articles, but blatant commercial advertising is not allowed. Posts with any images of violence should contain a warning in the title. These types of images will not be tolerated if inserted at random in other discussions. In these matters the decision of the owners will be final.

12. Posting someone else's personal contact information (home phone numbers, home addresses, unpublished e-mail addresses, etc.) is not allowed. Do not post private messages (PMs) unless you have the permission from the author.

13. Any member caught using web proxy will be summarily removed from the forum. Using a web proxy is slow and hides the poster’s true identity (cannot be traced back).

14. Our forum software allows for the enforcement of our rules through the infraction option. Only moderators are allowed to issue infractions. Each infraction has a point value and forum rights are removed at certain point levels. However, purveyors of spam will be banned permanently and their posts deleted.

15. Finally, while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot allow for all eventualities. Consequently the owners reserve the right to take any action that is deemed appropriate to ensure that these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way. We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules, since access to our forums is a privilege and not a right. Any such decisions taken by the owners are final.
