My Friend and Sensei is Gone

Found out that my Air Force Judo sensei and friend passed away on October 27, 2020; Masato J. Yamashita. He lived in San Ramon, CA. Nothing much about his death or obituary. He was a year or so younger than me. We were in boot camp at Lackland AFB, TX then tech school at Chanute AFB, IL then Naha AB, Okinawa until early 1962. Lots of Judo fun in the 2 years together.

My condolences on the passing of your friend and judo comrade, Jeff. It is sad that there was no obit, but perhaps you will be able to find a relative or friend from his hometown who will be able to tell you more. In the meantime, thank you for sharing his remembrance with us.

Well, it's hard to remember him since it has been 60 years since I last saw him. He dropped out of the planet life and I lost track of him. The problem is, Yamashita is a very popular Japanese name and finding info on the Net is difficult. Oh well, we live too long.

I am not on Fakebook. I have seen that though and his son posted to me once, but since I'm off FB I lost contact with him.
