Are there any books on non-American style of Kenpo, e.g. Shorinji Kenpo, etc.?
Thanks

There are a lot of books on Shorinji Kempo, most are in Japanese language only, with a small number in English.
Let us know if you can read Japanese, or English, or any other language, then we can offer an more informed reply.![]()
English or Spanish (if that helps).
Thanks
Shorinji Kempo and Kenpo are different arts unless I am very badly mistaken. I do not think that Shorinji Kempo is just the Asian version of the same art at all.
On the other hand I am not nearly as knowledgeable about Shorinji Kempo as many here.

Shorinji Kempo is most definitely not linked to kenpo karate (two words which shouldn't go together anyway). It's been discussed to death elsewhere on E-budo. Do a search.

Hi Rafael, here is a link to the Oviedo (Spain) Shorinji Kempo Branch web page.

In my opinion this is one of the best sites in which you can find general information regarding Shorinji Kempo. Apart from Spanish, you can find information in French and English as well. The translating effort put in this site is commendable, having into account that some people (a minority) in this forum take great pleasure in correcting the spelling of those without the English command of a Shakespeare. Some even will go as fas as to ‘demonstrate’ that the 350 million worldwide Spanish speakers have got their language wrong (see gi-dogi thread). It is not surprising that a lot of beginners and those who have not English as a first language are put off from this forum, which is a shame as most of the posts (and people) are quite instructive/fun.

Top site Juan. Have you trained with any of the Spanish kenshi?
PS: only 'most' of us are fun and instructive?![]()

How's your French??
There's a book by Roland Harbesetzer called Decouvrir Le Shorinji Kempo. It has over a hundred goho and juho techniques and brief history of S-K. There are a few pics of kenshi (including Aosaka Sensei) demonstrating the techniques, but predominantly the techniques are line drawings with commentary.
At 14 euros you can't really go wrong.

Nice one Richard.
14 euros looks like a bargain, I've ordered mine already.
David, unfortunately I haven't trained with Spanish kenshi yet. All branches are quite distant from my spanish hometown (Salamanca). I'm planning to get my club (Southampton Uni) to visit Salamanca and meet some Spanish and Portuguese kenshi in the process some time next year![]()

I've not been training in Spain yet either Juan, but have met many Spanish Kenshi over the years. Robert Castro is now in Brazil, but trained with us at Euston for a couple of years. No kyusho that lad. In fact no bodily system for feeling pain![]()
