Default Looking for a Goju teacher.

    Good day E-budo members,

I am looking for an traditional Goju teacher and i was wondering if you guys might be able to help. i live in the Upstate NY area. Due to my work commitment to a school is very difficult. I travel out of the country often. I am looking for someone that is willing to train me in all the old traditional methods, skills, kata, research and conditioning. This person doesnt need to be a school owner or ever a high ranking black belt. I am just looking for an honest person that knows his or her stuff and is willing to share there skill with me. I currently hold a black belt in another art so your are not dealing with a complete newbe. Goju is something that i have wanted to do for a long time now. I am very willing to learn.

thanks for allowing me to post this here.
    be safe all.

    Default Sorry.

Sorry. I forgot to mention. The current email address that is listed on my profile is no longer in use. If anyone needs to get a hold of me PM's are the best way.

    Thanks

    Mr. Davis

You might try looking on the internet and finding a web-site, if they have one, for the USA Go Jyu Ryu association (Kai). If you can not find one look for a web-site for the WKF (world Karate Federation). they might be able to help you get started on your search. After that you need,I think, to go and see some classes and meet the teacher. Find out his training history. If you want good training you need to find someone who has some experience and who knows how to train. It is important to find a good teacher. Ask around. and Good luck!

    Thank you Mr. Posselius,

i have been searching for some time now. Not much in my area as for training traditional methods. Its very competition-ish around here. I was hoping to find someone that is just willing to spend a bit of time with be to answer some questions that i have and maybe show me a thing or two.

    Thanks for the info.

Thanks guys for all the intel. I am very grateful. I am actually located not far from Albany, NY. I have been looking for a Goju or Kyokushin teacher for some time. Not much in the way of training here. i know that it sounds odd. there are a few school that claim to teach but once youu get in there its a lot of mixing this with that type stuff.....which is fine but not what i am looking for.

    thanks again guys.

For Kyokushin in New York, you might want to contact Chris Caile, at FightingArts.com. He's in the City, but presumably he knows people throughout the state who practice.

I believe you are correct. However, I suspect he still has a pretty good idea of who in the neighborhood is doing what.

How far are you from Warwick?

There is a Gojuryu school (Jundokan) in Warwick if that helps.
