Visiting next week.

I was wondering if any of the members who live there could suggest a few places that a visitor just has to see. I will have a few free days during this trip; I have my rail pass, What should I go see?

I don't live there, but I really enjoyed Kyoto/Nara when I visited, especially the park with the cookie/people eating deer and Ryonji(sp). In fact, that whole neighboorhood in the hills above Kyoto is quite fascinating...if I had to live in Japan, I think that's where I'd like to live. Is anyone here familiar with that section, and does anyone know the cost of living there? I'm assuming its quite high...

Hey, when are you going to be here? We should organise a party!
Places to see in Kyoto: Nijo Castle, Ryoanji, Kinkakuji, Kiyomizudera, and the national museum.
Places to see in Nara: Todaiji, feed the deer, Kasuga Taisha, and visit the museum in the grounds as there is an exhibition of Japanese swords at the moment.
Places to see in Osaka: Osaka castle, and the ceramics museum. Eat okonomiyaki.
Places to see in Yokohama: The tall ships, maritime museum, and Chinatown.
Places to see in Kamakura: If you're lucky, visit the horseback archery, and then go see any temple with a great Buddha.
Places to see in Tokyo: Tokyo tower (go right to the top), the diamond museum, and the e-budo pissup.

We'll (me, Tonya, Dan and about 10 others) be there from the 18th to the 27th. Well be busy from the 19th till the 21st than on the 23 and 24th.
