    John,

Unfortunately there is no one interpretation or definition on what Close Quarter Combat (CQC) is. However, generally speaking CQC is considered to be military combatives, that is the style of fighting done by members of the military or special operations, most people include SWAT teams these days.

Is this correct, I can't say, but the main differentiation is that in the civilian world there are laws which govern your ability to respond with lethal force. Now I don't want to start a whole argument on self-defense and the law, so suffice to say that this is generally accepted in most western countries.

Are the situations you describe CQC, I don't think so under my definition, but that's not to say they aren't just as dangerous to the individual being attacked, it's a complex parallel to draw.

I don't think it would be true CQC even if the victim was a military person, it isn't happening in a combat environment.

Will anyone else agree with me, probably not!

    Regards

    Neil
