    Default Japanese for Dreamweaver?

    Guys & Girls,

Any idea how to get Dreamweaver to recognise Japanese text?

    Cheers in advance...

    Hmmm, mine doesn't either.

My guess is that Dreamweaver is running on an older text conversion engine, such as ASCII based, as did a lot of the pre-XP software. XP language packs, I think, are running on the newer Unicode based engine, and most software has upgraded their conversion systems to suit XP, while perhaps Dreamweaver has not. I am using version 4, I haven't tried kanji in MX 2004 yet, as it is on a different machine to my Asian language software. I also use Twinbridge Chinese Japanese Korean partner, version 5, and that doesn't work in Dreamweaver either, although it works in all my other stuff - except Paint Shop Pro version 5, which I think was an older ASCII based program. Paintshop Pro version 8 works on XP with Asian characters...FWIW.

If this is the case, then I don't think you will ever get Dreamweaver (depends on what version you're running) to show kanji, unless you upgrade to a release that states it can do so.

    cheers,
