    Default "Shinmei Muso Ryu"?

Found a clip that says it features "Shinmei Muso Ryu"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBhQQK_gmqc

I was under the impression that Shinmei Muso Ryu was about Iai/Batto. The last two thirds of the clip look like a Katori Shinto Ryu variation slash rip-off.

Shinmei Muso-ryu was the old name for Hayashizaki's original iai.

Yep, it is a rough-looking presentation of TSKSR. No sign of the Muso iai waza anywhere to be seen.

Someone who is a apparently a student of this group just answered a question on youtube regarding where his sensei learned Katori:
He learned yari, naginata and Bojutsu by himself with books about Katori, with photos and explainations and a lot of training !
That's very...special. Also of interest: according to the little floating balloon labeled "sensei," he's the guy in the shidachi role. That's certainly not normal for koryu demonstration. I wonder if they know that.

My opinion is, in all likelihood, worth exactly what you are paying for it.

Indeed, in koryu, the senior is always the uchidachi/teki, and the junior is always shidachi/ware.

And what's with the bairns being so close to the embujo? Some safety parameters are in order there, a weapon may break or splinter.

If this is Shinmei Muso-ryu, I know where Jimmy Hoffa and Lord Lucan are hiding out. Oh, and I may know the whereabouts of Elvis!

Looks like the guy doing uke hasn't trained for very long, so I'm guessing the senior guy chose to be kirikomi to make the demo look better.

You have to admit, Steve, that the guy without the facial hair did a good job of dramaticly dieing. And that sound track was... something "else" too. And the sweat pants, impressive to say the least.

    Have a nice day.

It's part of his religion, nothing wrong with that.
