    Default Southampton University Spring Seminar

    Gassho All,

Following recent confirmation from Honbu that Southampton University Dojo is open, we'd like to open our doors to all WSKO members with a Spring Training Seminar.

    When: Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May - 10am to 4.30pm

Cost: £35 for both days, £20 for one day (including lunch).

Accommodation: We can offer some homestays to those travelling far.

Saturday Evening: We'll arrange food/entertaiment when we have an indication of numbers.

Interested? Please put your name down as an attendee on our Facebook Event by the end of this month:

You may have worked out that this is the day after the Royal Wedding, and the weekend before the May Bank Holiday - we hope that doesn't make it difficult for anyone.

For those not aware, we also have a Facebook page now - please feel free to find and "Like" it.

We're hoping to relaunch our club website over the next couple of weeks too.

Hope to see a few of you there.

    Best wishes,
    Olly Catford

    Looking forward to it guys.

Should be an excellent weekend of training, especially as one of your guest instructors for the event is so awesome

Congratulations on being 'confirmed' by WSKO. I wish the Southampton Branch Dojo a very successful future and am sure the upcoming Taikai will be a good one and a time to celebrate.

    Default Just one?

Sensei Steve - So which of Sensei Russell and Sensei Peter do you not think to be awesome?

Dave - I've been running the club as acting branch master these last 17 months with Sensei Peter as our branch coach.

    Rob - many thanks!

    Default D'oh!

Is it too late to retract that and instead wax lyrical about the trinity of assume instructors (legendary in their awesomeness to quote Kung Fu Panda)?

It probably is I suspect, but at least others my learn from my mistakes...

    Default Further info...

    Gassho All,

We’re pleased to confirm that we can offer 30 home-stay spaces for anyone coming to our Spring Seminar. They will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so please contact me by email or private message to reserve any for you or your club.

We’d also like to ask for confirmation of attendees by 1st April to ensure numbers to cover our costs – we’re not asking for money in advance, only a commitment to attend. To this end we would ask branch masters or club captains to please contact me with confirmed attendee names by the 1st April.

Any questions, please let me know.

    Many thanks,

    Olly

    Default Update

    Gassho All,

Following feedback that most people could only attend the Sunday training session, we have decided to down-size our Spring Seminar.

As a result, our Spring Seminar is now going to be just one day of training, on Sunday 1st May, in the “Old Sports Hall”, Southampton University.

We have decided to make the day slightly longer though, starting at 10, finishing at 5, and the good news is that we can make training cheaper at just £10 for the full day (we will agree reduced costs for anyone wanting to attend part of the session).

Obviously we’ll be going to the pub afterwards as well…

If you are going to come and train, and would like us to provide lunch for you (at no extra cost), please contact me via private message or direct by email if you already have that.

We look forward to seeing a good number of the WSKO kenshi training with us at the university again.

    See you there!

Anyone planning to drive down from London to Southampton (and back), with room for a passenger ?

Or, alternatively, anyone need a lift down (and back) ?

    share costs either way.

I had really liked to take part, but unfortunately I didn't manage to come this time. I wish you a lot of fun and hope to be able to come next time...

    Default Thanks!

Thanks to those who attended our Spring Seminar on Sunday. We were spoiled with Sensei Peter, Sensei Russell, Sensei Steve and Sensei Chris all providing instruction - thank you to those Sensei's for their support!

The morning session was good and sweaty with Sensei Steve and Sensei Peter taking Kihon. The weather held good for a lunch out in the sunshine and the afternoon was more technical with some much-appreciated Seiho taught by Sensei Peter to round it off.

Plenty of photographs on there to look through. Never seem to capture the effort and enjoyment of a session, but I guess for that you really have to be there. Good to see so many smiles, but why is Steve Williams Sensei always the one one with the biggest grin .
