Exclamation Need donations to keep e-Budo alive & well!!

    Aloha, all:

If you haven't noticed the other sticky thread, I was rather upset that the e-Budo Web-site was down more than it was up, so I finally contacted the Web hosting service, Orionweb.net. They told me that hosting payments were $600 in arrears (approximately 30 months' worth), but they were willing to work with me to keep the site up.

To make a long story shorter (the long story is on the other sticky), I'm collecting donations to pay off the arrears, & to pay the new reduced monthly rate of $15 ahead for a year. Donations can be made anonymously, or you can post them on this thread. You can pay either to:

    paypal@catii.com

or if you don't use PayPal, you can send a check to me at:

    Ken Goldstein

    P.O. Box 260
    Kaneohe, HI, USA 96744-0260

We're up to $143.97 so far, which includes a $50 donation from me. Any excess donations will be gratefully returned to the sender. If you have questions, feel free to e-mail me at ken@catii.com. You can also try to call me at 808-239-7950, but I've been in & out of the hospital for the past few weeks after major emergency surgery, so if the phone just rings, please try again. BTW, Hawaii is 3 hours earlier than California & 6 hours earlier than NYC, so please try to catch me during waking hours.

Thanks to everyone who can help. I really believe that e-Budo.com is an asset worth keeping!

    Aloha!

After a week, we're only up to $192.22 in donations, & we need a minimum of $600 just to pay off the arrears!

C'mon, there must be more of you who want e-Budo to stay in existence!!

    Ken

Traffic is pretty slow these days--but maybe the folks that have been posting fairly recently don't know/didn't see the sticky?

Wonder if their is a way to PM people en-mass to let them know about the e-budio fund?

    Good question, Chris.

Do any of you moderators have access to an e-mail blast feature for e-Budo?

    Thanks!

I have no idea, Cady, but the last time George added a comment was back on 4/11. I don't have a direct e-mail address for him, so please contact him if you do.

    Thanks!

Sending mass PM is not really a good idea since not everone has email notifications for PM, so those people would need to visit the site in order to see it.

vBulletin has a built in function to do mass emails. Admins usually has the permissions to do this, moderators don't (with the default permissions).

Yes, he would. I also have that access.

Thumbs up On the final leg!

Okay! We're finally making some progress! One of our illustrious members has sent $250 directly to Orionweb, & we're up to $277.22 in PayPal & check donations. So we're only $72.78 short of paying off the arrears, plus another $180 to pay the next year's hosting fees.

I'm mightily relieved, to say the least, & want to thank everyone who is helping out. Yes, John could still decide to take the site down, but I'm hoping that he will see that there is a large group of us who consider e-Budo as a real asset.

Anders, I think we will likely be able to get enough donations without doing an e-mail blast, but what do you think about sending one afterwards explaining what has been happening, & how the site is being kept alive by folks like us?

I will also do some donations, just haven't had the time to do it yet.

As for the email, I guess it would be a good idea to send out that type of email and explaining why the site has been down and that it now is up an running again and people are welcome back to post.

I would however appreciate some help in writing that email.

I think we can manage that, Anders.

I'm not quite sure what changed e-Budo from a forum that I read & responded to daily to one that just occasionally caught my eye. I spent most of my time on Sword Arts, with occasional forays into Jo, Judo, & Firearms. Those gave me a couple of responses each day & kept me involved. I don't think that we have become any less interesting, do you?

I would sure appreciate ideas & comments on how to rejuvenate interest in the forum, especially from those who have been contributors in the past.

No donations at all for the past two days. We're close, but not there yet.

Please send your donations today so that I can pay off the e-Budo arrears of $600 & another $180 for the next year's hosting services.

    Mahalo! (Thank you!)
