    Default Lost in Western Nebraska

I only have Sugawara Tetsutaka's Mokuroku in THE TECHNIQUES of TSKSR -- no ryu membership is claimed or implied. But I have my measure of skill in the techniques. I travel 4 hours to Scott Tullis and Muso Shinden ryu once a month. I was a college professor for 25 years. I long for training partners and have no interest in "commerce" in budo beyond sharing ... Am I in the right forum? I am in Alliance Nebraska. Surely there are some budo-interested folks out this way!

    Hello Robert,

Welcome to E-Budo. Perhaps due to the popularity of social networks like Facebook and Twitter, forums like ours have become quieter than before. However, I am sure someone will drop by and see your threads.

I live in Hiroshima and have never been to Western Nebraska. I also believe that the nearest TSKR dojo is quite a bit further away than your 4-hour drive. Since you have your measure of skill, as you put it, perhaps you should consider forming a study group.

    Best wishes,

Exactly. The current climate in TSKSR affairs is ... Change ... ? All I want is some training partners. Study group "unaffiliated" is just right.

Default No TSKSR within 4 hours!

Oh! I go to Cheyenne Budokan, Cheyenne, Wyoming, for my Muso Shinden ryu fix. Not TSKSR.

    Hello and welcome to E-Budo.
You could try posting in the Sword Arts Dojo Finder subsection in the Sword Arts forum:
    http://www.e-budo.com/forum/forumdis...ts-Dojo-Finder

Alternatively, have you tried reaching out through Sugawara-ha TSKR's US contacts, to see whether they might know of anyone in Nebraska who also is looking for someone to train with? Perhaps there have been other inquiries and you could get a study group together. Unfortunately, it looks like the closest dojo to you is in Missouri, but perhaps Mark Jones Sensei would have some suggestions.

I sorta started the Mark Jones - Sugawara Tetsutaka thing through Pat Nichols ... Nobody from that group out this way. I know or have practiced with most of those folks. I am just struggling to FIND genuine interest in this region...my town--wife's career--is around 8k. Still lot's of scattered folks around this region MIGHT be "out there".

Koryu is an esoteric pursuit, to be sure, so finding one or more interested parties in a community of 8K would be like being one of those handful of Powerball winners last week.
