They would not believe some of the blood soaked Judogi times either. My most fun days were on Okinawa with some of the crew at the Police dojo in Naha and trying to keep my bones intact. That was in 1960-62 when much of the shiai was kohaku shiai and they would get wild. But, newaza was seldom used for some reason that escapes me now. The so-called choke that guy did was not a very skilled attempt, and his hands and arms were not placed right to actually be effective as a choke but was okay for restraint. As I said my opinion of the throat or air cutoff-like technique was too dangerous for most people to do. Maybe I was wrong, but at the time it was my opinion.
