This new DVD by Salahuddin Muhammad of Hontai Hakkei Ryu Aikijujutsu features practical, powerful and elegant knife techniques based on koryu principles, presented for contemporary application.

Hontai Hakkei Ryu is a contemporary art completely comprised of koryu and neo-classical fundamentals and kata, but with a strong emphasis on pragmatic free-style applications. It is a weapons-based system with myriad taijutsu applications. The tanto jutsu DVD explores a wealth of classic knife-combat waza in a clear and easy-to-follow format.

This DVD is the first in what will be two separate volumes on tanto jutsu. In this first set, the focus is on principles and technical applications for contemporary use. The second volume, which will be available later this year, will cover the historic aspects of the art: traditional, formal garments; formal kata against katana, tanto, yonshakubo, and empty hand attacks. DVD #1 is for quick acquisition of one's self-defense needs, while #2 will be for a deeper study into the form,, posture, structure,, and alignment that should be held for "formal" tanto jutsu.

Here is a short "teaser" that was just put up to show a few snippets of the techniques that will be included and instructed in the tanto jutsu video. This is only a very rough cut to show a few things. The finished DVD will be set up with instruction and demos in slo-mo and "at speed."
