Angel Lemus, respected martial artist for more than a half-century with high ranks in multiple arts, passed away in the early morning hours on May 3, 2023 in Honolulu, Hawai'i, after developing pneumonia. His wife, Judy, a marine biologist and university professor, was with him. Lemus Sensei had just finished producing the April 2023 issue of Bugeisha, a magazine highlighting and focusing on the traditional martial arts. The publication was a labor of love for Lemus Sensei, who almost single-handedly re-booted it after it had languished following a short run in the 1990s. His passing will leave a large void in the martial arts world.
